This stool test detects the concentration of calprotectin, a protein released during inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract.
This test is suitable for adults aged 18 and over.
You will be required to provide a stool sample for analysis.
Following any prescribed medications or ongoing supplement routines is essential without consulting a qualified medical professional.
Some medications and supplements may affect test results. If you and your healthcare provider decide to proceed, consider the following guidelines:
7 days before your test:
Where appropriate, pause the use of anti-inflammatory drugs.
You may also consider discontinuing steroid medications.
2 days before collecting your sample:
Avoid using aspirin and any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
24 hours before collection:
Refrain from taking Vitamin C in doses greater than 250mg.
Avoid NSAIDs and any medication for IBS symptoms.
Please note:
If using steroid creams, shower and wash off all residue before providing your sample.
Long-term use of antibiotics or probiotics may be continued, but should be reported when submitting the sample.
Your sample must be sent to the lab within 24 hours of collection.
Samples must be shipped Monday through Wednesday only.
Return the sample using the original test kit box, as this is a legal requirement. Improper packaging may result in your sample being rejected.
To post your sample within the UK:
Take the pre-addressed, unpaid mailing bag to the Post Office and send using “Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1 pm” on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday.
Tests typically take 2 to 3 weeks from the date you send them back. We will email you the results when we receive them.
